The Mount Carmel Early Childhood Center is a small private preschool inspired by the philosophies of both Bank Street College and Reggio Emilia. It serves children ages 2-5 in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Our Teachers believe and foster a play-based education, using children’s interests and real world applications to create engaging and rich curriculums. Through thoughtful questioning and critical thinking, our Teachers support children in developing a love for learning.
Open Positions
Lead Teacher (Full Time)
We are hiring a Lead Teacher for 2/3’s to begin January 2025.
The Lead Teacher works under the guidance and supervision of the Education Director and Executive Director to create a safe, nurturing and challenging learning environment consistent with the philosophy of the ECC.
The Lead teacher is responsible for providing a classroom
environment that reflects the children’s development and interests and a sound understanding of a developmental interactive philosophy incorporating the NYS Early Learning Guidelines.

Responsibilities include
- Planning curriculum
- Collaborating with the Assistant Teacher
- Classroom management
- Parent communication
- Other daily classroom tasks
- Leading Parent/Teacher Conferences
- Attending monthly Staff Meetings and Team Meetings
- Attending other school events throughout the year.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Classroom teaching experience
- A Masters Degree/NYS Early Childhood Certification (or working toward)
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Assistant Teacher (Full Time)
We are hiring an Assistant Teacher to begin January 2025.
The Assistant Teacher works directly with the Lead Teacher, under the guidance and supervision of the Education Director and Executive Director, to create a safe, nurturing and challenging learning environment consistent with the philosophy of the ECC. The Assistant Teacher should also have strong interpersonal skills and an eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with planning curriculum.
- Assisting the Lead Teacher with classroom management.
- Assisting with parent communication and other daily classroom tasks.
- Attending monthly Staff Meetings and Team Meetings
- Attending Parent/Teacher Conferences and other school events throughout the year.
The ideal candidate:
- Has or is working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Is interested in gaining classroom experience.
